Curtis Ozment

Curtis Ozment, CFI, CFEI, CVFI

Curtis Ozment is the partner and co-owner of American Fire Investigations & Consultants, bringing 46 years of experience in fire service and fire investigation. He began his career in 1979 with the Tulsa Fire Department, serving as a firefighter, member of the Hazardous Materials Unit, and eventually as Assistant Fire Marshal and Senior Investigator. Over the course of his career, Curtis has investigated more than 5,400 fire scenes. He was assigned to the ATF Task Force and also implemented the Tulsa Fire Department's Accelerant Detection K-9 Unit, serving as both trainer and handler. He worked cases across the state of Oklahoma and played a key role in expanding investigative resources within the department. Curtis holds the following professional certifications: • IAAI Certified • NAFI Certified He earned an Associate Degree in Science from Murray State College and an Associate Degree in Fire Science from Tulsa Community College. He is also a Medal of Valor recipient from the Tulsa Fire Department, recognized for his bravery and service. In 2002, Curtis founded American Fire Investigations & Consultants, and after retiring from the Tulsa Fire Department in 2006, he began running the company full-time—providing thorough and honest origin and cause determination across Oklahoma. In his free time, Curtis enjoys spending time with his family, riding his motorcycle across the United States, and continuing his training and education in fire investigation.
Connor Ozment

Connor Ozment, CFI, CFI(V), CFEI

Connor Ozment, CFI, CFI(V), CFEI, is a Partner & Co-Owner of American Fire Investigations and Consultants. He is IAAI Certified and NAFI Certified. Connor brings over 13 years of field experience and has investigated more than 1,712 fires throughout his career. Connor earned his Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Political Science from Northeastern State University, where he also served in leadership roles within the Student Government Association and Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He additionally holds an Associate's degree in Fire Science from Tulsa Community College. He also served as a firefighter and lead medic, holding Firefighter I and II certifications through Oklahoma State University. He regularly attends courses offered through IAAI, including Forensic Explosion Dynamics & Complex Fatality Scene Analysis, Forensic Fire Fatality / Crime Scene Management, and Advanced Fire Behavior, to name a few. His background in suppression and emergency response has deeply informed his expertise in fire origin and cause determinations. Connor remains actively involved in professional organizations, including the National Association of Fire Investigators and the International Association of Arson Investigators Oklahoma Chapter, where he currently serves as a board member. He is committed to continuously learning and furthering his education to stay at the forefront of fire investigation practices. In his off time, Connor enjoys spending time with his wife and son, attending OU football games, restoring classic cars, playing golf, and pursuing continued education.
